Welcome Dr. Nabil J. Azar
Dr. Nabil J. Azar is a Board Certified Neurologist and Board Certified Epileptologist. He is a recognized expert in clinical epilepsy, with a long academic experience in evaluating and treating patients with seizures, and epilepsy.
Dr. Nabil J. Azar earned his MD from the American University of Beirut. He completed Residency at Georgetown University in Washington DC. He then completed a two-year Fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology and Epilepsy at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville TN. Dr. Azar then joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University for over 10 years. He directed the epilepsy training and intraoperative monitoring programs and was Associate Professor before joining Austin Epilepsy Care Center. He previously acted as chief resident and chief fellow during his training and has been the recipient of many clinical and teaching awards during his academic career.
Dr. Azar published many research papers in distinguished medical journals, some of which are considered international reference papers in the field of antiepileptic drugs, epilepsy monitoring and epilepsy surgery. He has also conducted several clinical trials on new antiepileptic drugs, anti-seizure devices and diet. He has presented his studies and has been a speaker to international and national neurological conferences. He has authored two review books on Epilepsy and written several chapters on different aspects of clinical epilepsy and its treatments. He is a member of the American Epilepsy Society and American Academy of Neurology.
