Notice for Austin Epilepsy Care Center : Effective 8/14/2020
Austin Epilepsy Care Center remains focused on patient care and the safety of staff and patients. Due to the shift caused by COVID-19, effective August 14, 2020 we will close our south Austin office at 4316 James Casey Street. Our north office at 2200 Park Bend Drive Bldg 2 Ste 203 remains open with normal business hours and staffing for continued patient care. We welcome all of our south office patients and staff to the north office location and remain focused on being part of your healthcare team. At this time our doctors currently also offer televisits to patients.
To schedule a telemed visit, please call our office at 512-339-8831. Please view the Televisit consent form found under patient forms. Please review and send message through your patient portal message section or email us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org "I have reviewed the AECC telemedicine consent form and agree to telemedicine visit" Alternately you can print the form, sign and return to us via fax 512-339-8841.
For after hours emergent calls please call our office at 512-339-8831 and you will be directed to the answering service.
For non urgent calls, please call during office hours or send messages through your patient portal: https://health.eclinicalworks.com/AECC
After hours messages sent through your patient portal will be addressed the following business day.
Please be advised that while our office is currently open, as recommended by Austin Public Health and CDC, we will screen everyone that arrives in our office and masks are required prior to entering our building.
If you currently have an existing appointment and would like to schedule a televisit instead, please call our office at 512-339-8831.
As recommended, do not come to your visit if any of the following apply to you:
- you are considered at risk to be in public
- experiencing respiratory symptoms
- experiencing shortness of breath
- have a fever
- have cough/sneezing
- have traveled to any of the areas CDC currently has outlined
- have been exposed to anyone diagnosed with or have been recently diagnosed with coronavirus
-If you need to bring someone to your appointment we request a limit to 1 other person to comply with the recommendations for social distancing.
-Prescription refill information: We will continue to refill medications as they are normally due. Please contact your pharmacy first to send us your refill requests. We will not be able to send in extra prescriptions requests unless there is an emergent need.

Austin Epilepsy Care Center is a comprehensive epilepsy center. We provide multiple treatment options including Medical treatment, Epilepsy surgery, Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS),
RNS (Responsive Neurostimulation), Diet , and antiepileptic drug trials.

The new and designated Epilepsy Monitoring Unit provides state-of-the-art technology for 24 hours 7 days a week evaluation of people with epilepsy. It is located in a hospital named among the Nation’s 100 top Hospitals.
One of the EMU staff goals is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for our patients and their family members.
Please note effective March 6, 2020 Dr. Nabil Azar will no longer see patients at our offices:
Over the past 18 months Dr. Nabil Azar has been part of Austin Epilepsy Care Center. We appreciate his service and excellent care Dr. Azar provided to his patients. With mixed emotions, Dr. Azar decided to pursue another position outside of Austin Epilepsy Care Center. Effective March 6, 2020, Dr. Azar will no longer see patients at our practice. We are sorry for the inconvenience that this may cause
As your medical records will remain with Austin Epilepsy Care Center, we will be able to continue your neurological care at our office with our four Epileptologists; Sami Aboumatar, MD, Jeanne Beattie, MD, Daniel Schere, MD and Diego Tovar Quiroga, MD. If you wish to continue care with another physician not affiliated with Austin Epilepsy Care Center, please let us know as soon as possible so that we may transfer your records to the new provider.
